Sunday's Service will celebrate Candlemas and The Presentation

Candlemas is a popular name for the feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple. It is normally observed on February 2, the fortieth day after Christmas. The name comes from the tradition of blessing candles at this feast and carrying them in procession before the celebration of the Eucharist. If you wish you may have candles nearby at the beginning of the service this Sunday. As a part of the welcome, Jenny will talk about the Presentation and Candlemas and lighting candles while inviting those watching to light candles in their homes.

Westside Food Pantry

Our second and final distribution of the month came early this year.  We did see growth in our numbers in January, as well as a rise in Covid19 infections in our neighborhood. In both cases, we were able to maintain our operations with care and efficiently. Here are some numbers for the month of January:  $19,250 in vouchers distributed.  We served 381 neighbors--288 adults and 93 children from 215 households.  We registered 9 new households made up of 18 people. These numbers represent about an 8% increase over this time last year.

I appeared before the Southwest Harbor Select Committee and Budget Committee on Monday, January 11th by Zoom.  As usual, I received a good reception and appreciation for our work.  Approximately 56% of our vouchers go to Southwest Harbor residents.  I am fairly certain that we will be included in the Town Budget for 2021-22.

We invite you to visit the facebook page for the Westside Food Pantry!  You will find periodic announcements and information about the Westside Food Pantry.  Please visit the page and like it. You can find it at: https://www.facebook.com/WestsideFoodPantry/

MDI+ Episcopal Churches:

Joint Directory for Mother Holly
In an effort to make this new joint church effort as easy as we can for Mother Holly,  St. Andrew and St. John, Church of Our Father and St. Saviour's is making a directory for Mother Holly containing members of all three parishes.
If you prefer not to be listed in this directory, please reply that desire to saints315@myfairpoint.net by Thursday, 2/4/2021.  Otherwise, you will be listed if you are in any of the parishes' current directories.

Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made. If you'd like to know more about this or our Pastoral Care Team, please contact our office administrators.
