If you need help or need to talk with someone, please call Gen MacKenzie, 244-7313 Ted Fletcher, 266-8415     Bells rang to honor Americans lost to COVID-19 The Presidential Inaugural Committee planning the events and activities surrounding the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris invited church bells and bell towers across the nation to ring out together on January 19, at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The coast-to-coast bell ringing memorial honored the 400,000+ Americans we have lost to COVID-19. Those who participated on Mount Desert Island were: Bar Harbor Congregational Church, Church of Our Father, St. Saviour's Parish, St. Mary & St. Jude, St. John the Divine, St. Andrew by the Lake, Somesville Union Meeting House, Pemetic School, and many homes and other places across our island.       St. John's Calendar The full St. John's Calendar can be viewed <HERE>.      At St. John's Keep in your prayers this week: Peppy Seavey, Ted Bromage, Jean Storace, Spencer Ervin, Geoff Schuller, Doris McCorison, Gail Leland, Jeremy Harkins, Michael Shook, Joyce and Jim Risser, Loretta Schmidt, Theresa Mitchell, David Douglass,  Fred & Dollis Sprague, Sara Winchenbach, Ray & Susan McDonald, Richard Ramsdell, Dorothy & Jim Clunan, Bill and Barbara Loveland. In both cases, we were able to maintain our operations with care and efficiently. Here are some numbers for the month of January:  $19,250 in vouchers distributed.  We served 381 neighbors--288 adults and 93 children from 215 households.  We registered 9 new households made up of 18 people. These numbers represent about an 8% increase over this time last year.     I appeared before the Southwest Harbor Select Committee and Budget Committee on Monday, January 11th by Zoom.  As usual, I received a good reception and appreciation for our work.  Approximately 56% of our vouchers go to Southwest Harbor residents.  I am fairly certain that we will be included in the Town Budget for 2021-22. Stephen Muncie is conducting a Zoom Bible Study on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.  He is using the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) translation of the Bible but you may use any translation you have on hand.
