All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion. If you are new to meditation, have questions or concerns, or would like more information, please contact Mother Kathleen.   Clean Up Days:  St. John, Saturday, May 12; St. Andrew, Saturday, June 2.   Yard Sale — Friday and Saturday, June 8 & 9 at St. Andrew. As you delve into your spring cleaning, please remember that we are seeking treasures for the 5th annual Yard Sale at St. Andrew's.  The basement door is open so feel free to drop off your goodies when the spirit moves you.  Please NO books, clothing, or electronics. If you would like to join the fun, please let Barbara Campbell or Jayne Ashworth know.  There are opportunities to help set up for the sale as well as work on the sale days.   Services at St. Andrew by-the-Lake — Sundays, June 17 through October 7.   Pastoral Care Retreat —Praying in Paint—on Saturday, May 26th 10-3pm at the YWCA in Bar Harbor. The Reverend Susan Berry Taylor, working priest and artist, will be our facilitator. Members from Interim Bodies and task groups as well as those knowledgeable on the issues will present their resolutions in the Blue Book. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. Details for each webinar will be sent closer to the time of the webinar. Stay tuned. Web conversations will discuss key issues and resolutions with church leaders, 7:30 p.m.: May 10 – Structure; June 14 – Creation     Diocesan Adult Retreat at Bishopswood - June 15-17 Join us for a weekend on beautiful Lake Megunticook near Camden Maine. The annual diocesan retreat is an opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life and be refreshed. This year, we'll use Celtic and Ignatian resources to help us connect with Christ in nature, scripture, community and the depths of our hearts. We'll seek to deepen our awareness of Jesus and open ourselves in generosity and compassion. Camp will open for recreation at 3PM Friday; Dinner will be at 6PM; Program begins at 7PM.  The Retreat ends Sunday before lunch.   Retreat cost (including 2 nights lodging, meals): For a shared cabin clustered around the bathhouse: $95.  A few spaces are available in buildings with shared bathrooms: $125.   For those who wish to make their own lodging arrangements: $65.  Scholarships for Sunday school teachers and youth event volunteers, and financial aid, are available. If you'd like to know more about this or our Pastoral Care Team, please contact our office administrators or Mother Kathleen.   Community: The Harbor House and the Southwest Harbor & Tremont Chamber of Commerce are putting together a Chowder Competition for July 15th, during Flamingo Festival. And we are looking for some volunteers to help with serving, selling tickets, selling baked goods, set up and clean up, and tallying the votes. If you are available from 10AM to about 2:30 on July 15th, please consider joining us for this fun new event!  It will take place under the big tent on the Pemetic School Lawn, after the Flamingo 4-Miler and during the Flamingo Craft Fair. The center is located in Seal Cove on MDI.  For more information please either email office@alcyoncenter.org or call 207.244.1060.     Westside Food Pantry: Dear friends, I can't begin to thank enough our neighbors-helping neighbors volunteers for your good, faithful, and gracious service this distribution season.  And, also our Westside neighbors who we are blessed to help in this small way through our work as the Pantry.  It's been a relatively smooth distribution season.  We're going to close out the year with just enough funds to pay for the April vouchers and not much more to carryover.  The need will be covered!  This is good news.   Back to you volunteers.  Judith Cox ran across this quote yesterday and passed it on to me.  I would like to share it with all of you.   "We can bring our spiritual practice into the streets, our communities when we see each realm as a temple, as a place to discover that which is sacred." (Jack Kornfield)  One of the themes we carried into this distribution season was "putting our caring into practice".  I see our work with our neighbors as a spiritual practice.  We put what matters to us--caring for our neighbors--into practice whenever we go about the business of the Westside Food Pantry.  Caring becomes real in at least one way in our work--together we address the food security needs of our neighbors whenever we open up the Pantry at Harbor House.  Sunday, the spirit among all who gathered at the Pantry was convivial and gracious.  Neighbors lingered to talk with their friends, and some were you volunteers.  I believe that this kind of good spirit is the result of our work and your presence and caring.  Harbor House upstairs turns into "temple" where we discover what matters to us--being a neighbor among neighbors. Many, many contribute to this spiritual practice--from donors far and near to neighbor volunteers and neighbors-in-need of help.  Our work gives us a chance to see what is sacred in the little pieces of colored paper we print names on, in the eyes of a neighbor who is having a rough time and shares their story, and in that old Pemetic schoolroom which now gathers us during the winter months to be a community.  I am grateful that we share this practice together!  Again, and as always, thank you.
