Mi-Careme Party Friday, April 4 at 6:30 pm! When Tim and Bob were in the Canadian Maritimes last year, they learned about a European tradition from the Middle Ages still practiced in some small communities in Quebec. Called Mi-Careme and always falling near the mid-point of Lent (also around the time we in this latitude are getting really really sick of winter), it's a fun festival including food, disguises, and games as a brief break from Lenten severity. Our version will be a low-key chance to set down all the work and gather for some fun together. We'll provide snacks, beer and wine. We'll also have games and entertainment. This event is stress-free: you don't have to bring a thing, or even RSVP! Join us and don't suffer through Lent alone! Contact Liz Graves at 266-3109 for more details.

Sunday, April 6 at 3 pm.  The St. Saviour’s Festival Choir is once again preparing a Lenten program which will take place on Sunday, April 6 at 3:00 pm.  We will present Mozart’s beautiful Missa Brevis in F Major accompanied by strings and organ, as well as several other appropriate anthems.

Community Events

Suggested donation is $15. Profits will benefit the MDI Community Campfire Coalition, which provides heating fuel to locals in need. FMI: www.seacoastmission.org

Island Connections seeks to provide free services to seniors, elderly and people with disabilities on Mount Desert Island and the surrounding islands that will enable them to live independently and with a strong quality of life. Community Events

Making a Difference for Seniors—For the past 109 years the Maine Sea Coast Mission has served the communities of Maine’s coast and remote islands. On March 25, the Mission will convene a meeting of local organizations, service providers and community members. The Mission is interested in establishing a coffee house for senior citizens at the Colket Center. This meeting will provide an opportunity for your feedback and to help determine potential areas of collaboration. The planned coffee house would be similar to a successful program the Mission currently offers at our campus in Cherryfield.  A potential component of the program would be a volunteer-run telephone program designed to support and reassure homebound seniors.  We know that many excellent programs serving seniors already exist on MDI, and we want to complement and work within the existing service network. The meeting will be held at the Mission’s Colket Center located at 127 West Street in Bar Harbor on March 25th from 2-4 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Space is limited so please RSVP to Terri Rodick at 207-288-5097 or trodick@seacoastmission.org if you plan to attend.

Best Ever Spaghetti Supper – Come on out for the 11th Annual Best Ever Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, April 12th from 5-7pm. This dinner is a benefit for the Westside Food Pantry and is hosted by the Southwest Harbor Congregational Church located on High Road.  Cost is $7.00 per person or $25.00 per family.
