Acadia Halls performance, Monday, June 29th at 4:00pm; admission - $8.00. The Westside Food Pantry will receive 1/2 of the ticket sales. The performance will feature Cynthia MacLeod, Ward MacDonald and Chris Gray. This dynamic trio of recording artists all have roots in Scottish music with a touch of the Irish and Canadian Maritime styles to keep it lively. The audience will be treated to fiddles, bag pipes, whistles, and more. Cynthia and Ward both hail from Prince Edward Island, but more often than not, can be found performing around the US and Europe. Chris is an instructor with Acadia Trad School and lives on MDI. St. Saviour:
Recital: Julia Morris-Myers and Ann Sears, piano solos and piano duets, joined by tenor Bill McArtor, will present a program of works by Ravel, Gershwin and Copland, on Friday, July 3 at 7:00 pm in support of MDI Search and Rescue. Suggested donation $15
Orthodox Divine Liturgy at St. Saviour’s. Reverend Father John Pawelchak and the choir of Christ the Saviour Orthodox Mission will be celebrating the Orthodox Divine Liturgy here Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 AM. This ancient Eucharistic liturgy, chanted in English, Russian, and Old Church Slavonic, is an outreach of the Orthodox Church in America to meet the spiritual needs of seasonal workers visiting MDI from Eastern Europe. All are welcome, and watch for more Orthodox services offered at St. Saviour’s over the summer.
Church of Our Father:
The Waste Not, Want Not Thrift Shop is open Saturdays from 9 am - 12 pm, Wednesdays 3:30 pm - 6 pm. We are accepting, good clean clothing & linens. Think of us when you are cleaning out your closets. Leave donations in Church Parish Hall. Call for more information 288-3674
Thursday evening Bible Study: Through September 10 at 7 pm. using the study titled The Bible in 90 days. There is a participant’s guide which will help to keep the group on track.
St. Mary & St. Jude:
Annual Meeting, Sunday, June 28. There will be only one service at 10:00 at St. Jude’s.
St Mary's and St Jude's are once again holding casserole sales on Main Street in Northeast Harbor July 17 and August 14. Men and women who would like to help by providing homemade casseroles and/or setting up and assisting in sales may sign up on the clipboard lists at church. Proceeds are used in ECW outreach programs. (Food Pantries, Nursing Association, etc.)
MDI+ Episcopal Churches:
Men's Bible Study Group meets on a monthly basis. The group focuses on selected Bible readings and discusses how these passages affect our lives and our relationships with others. The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month. Meeting locations alternate among Church of our Father, St. Mary, St. Saviour and St. John.
