Meditation on Tuesdays at 4:00 at St. John's. Please join us for 30 minutes of shared silence and "prayer of the heart," an ancient meditative practice of the Christian tradition. All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion. If you are new to meditation, have questions or concerns, or would like more information, please contact Mother Kathleen.

Westside Food Pantry:

Pantry season is upon us!  Our first distribution will be Sunday, November 4th, 12 Noon to 2 PM, in Harbor House.  Preparations are underway for the opening.

Barbara Campbell is busily preparing the envelopes for our Annual Appeal mailing in late October.  This is one of the most crucial undertakings of the year.  Almost 75% of our funding comes as a response to this appeal.  That's how important it is!  On Saturday, October 20 from about 1 PM to 3 PM I am asking anyone who can to please come to St. John Church and assist in writing a simple one or two sentence note to any of the addressees that you personally know.  If you don't know any of the potential donors, that's fine.  I can use your help in stuffing and stamping the envelopes.

I will hold an orientation meeting for Pantry volunteers on Thursday, October 24, at St. John Church at around 4 PM.  At this meeting, I will brief you on the upcoming season, answer your questions, and entertain any ideas you may have about our operations or policies.  This meeting is for the benefit of anyone who might like to serve on the volunteer committee.  I am happy to talk to would-be members of the committee about joining our work.  You can give me names anytime.

I look forward to working with you and your caring hearts in the upcoming Pantry season.  Contact me at any time with any questions or concerns.

Grateful for your help,

Dean Henry
