This coming Sunday, May 23, MDI Episcopalians will celebrate Pentecost both in-person (outdoors) and on You Tube.

The You Tube service will be available at 8:00 on the MDI Episcopal site.
Click here to see the service.
The in-person service will be held at St. John the Divine in Southwest Harbor at 10:00 AM. Please wear a mask. If you wish, bring a chair and for shade - consider wearing a hat or bring an umbrella.
In case of rain the outdoor service will be cancelled and you will get an announcement from the church by Saturday night.
Please sign up if you plan to attend. There is room for everyone since we will be outside.
This will assist with contact tracing, should that be necessary.  Click here to sign-up.
Folks who miss the sign up (or who are walking by and want to attend) can sign in at the event, but signing up ahead of time will save time, decrease lines when people arrive, and give us better hope of actually having a list of attendees, as recommended by our diocese.

Neither will we ask if you are "free now" and request only an email response. Notice of Second Special Parish Meeting
The Rector, Wardens and Vestry of St. Andrew and St. John Episcopal Church request your presence at the second Special Parish meeting for the purpose of revising the Parish By-Laws. The Vestry proposes three amends or changes, generally described as:

     1)  Expanding the eligibility requirements of who can serve on the Vestry, removing the position of Summer Vestry person, and requiring residency in Maine for three months per year;
     2)  Providing for video-conferencing of vestry and parish meetings and electronic or online voting;
     3)  Various changes to nomenclature such as changing "minister" to "priest" or "rector; and redefining parish membership consistent with current common practice in The Episcopal Church.

Detailed copies of the proposed changes are available in the church office.

The First meeting was held on May 9th and was well attended. However, in order to revise the Parish by-laws, there must be two meetings with a vote and it is necessary to have a quorum at each.
The Second Meeting will be SundayMay 23rd at 11:15 following the All-Island Pentecost Service at St. John. In case the worship service is cancelled, due to rain, the parish meeting will still be held inside the church at 11:15.

Readers wanted.
We are looking for readers who are willing to read scripture for the services to be held in the church this summer. If you are interested, please contact the church office, 244-3229.

FRIENDS IN ACTION OFFERS
"VACCINE BUDDIES" PROGRAM

Many people may not have access to the internet or the ability to set up the registration for an appointment. A volunteer will assist and will keep all information completely confidential. Transportation is also available through Friends in Action to local vaccination sites, as well as to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
