From the Wardens:
Bishop Brown has requested that churches continue their online services during June, even though the CDC now permits in person worship services. We all miss worshiping together "in person" at St. Andrew and St. John. Hopefully, we will be together again in July!

Worship services for June will continue online rotation between the MDI Episcopal Churches. This includes the Thursday Evening Prayer Service. As you may be aware, Rev. Stephen Muncie has conducted Zoom bible studies on Wednesdays mornings. A session on 1 Samuel will begin next week.

At the May 17th Vestry Meeting, the Nominating Committee presented the slate of nominees. They are: Pamela Hattem—1 year vestry term (filling a vacancy); Edie Stanwood—2nd vestry term; Ted Fletcher—2nd term Junior Warden; Rita Redfield—Clerk; Paul Haertel—Treasurer; Rita Redfield—Representative to Annual Convention; and Bob Stanwood—Representative to the Annual Convention. Liz Erickson will continue with the FIC as Assistant Treasurer. One vestry position remains open.

Our Annual Meeting will be June 29th at 4 PM on Zoom. The agenda includes the following:
1. Approval of June 2019 minutes;
2. Election of Vestry members and representatives to the Annual Convention;
3. Approval of Annual Reports.

In order to conduct the Annual Meeting a quorum of 20 is required. Please plan to attend. The Annual Report will be available both online and at the church. More information will be available for accessing the Annual Meeting on Zoom.

For many of us, this has been a time to reflect on our lives. It has been a quiet time to examine what is important to us and to those we love. May God guide you. May He guide St. Andrew and St. John and all the MDI churches.

Ted Fletcher, Junior Warden

Reflection from Ted Fletcher
(The Rev.) John Burton's wonderful, insightful, sermon last Sunday, May 24th, put me in mind of this Emily Dickinson poem – one of her "gorgeous nothings:"

The Brain—is wider than the Sky—
For—put them side by side—
The one the other will contain
With ease—and you—beside—

The Brain is deeper than the sea—
For—hold them—Blue to Blue—
The one the other will absorb—
As sponges—Buckets—do—

The Brain is just the weight of God—
For—Heft them—Pound for Pound—
And they will differ—if they do—
As Syllable from Sound—

Emily Dickinson, c. 1862

Far be for me to endorse or not to endorse Dickinson's Transcendentalism, lest I invite further ecclesiastical discipline – yet again, but you might seek out Bill Hawley's wonderful settings of some of Dickinson's poem here:

When we "re-gather," we are all going to have to find new ways to bring God's creative generosity to the world around us. John Burton has given us a good suggestion in one way to do that.

From the Diocese of Maine{Diocese of Maine}

As a Parish of the Diocese of Maine, we are part of a church family that extends from Kittery to Fort Kent, and connects us to the rest of the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion.  We share ministry with our Bishop and with every worshiping community.
If you are not subscribed to the Diocesan twice monthly email newsletter, the DioLog, please click [here] to subscribe.  If you are subscribed, don't forget to open it and read it every time!  There is a lot going on in every corner of the Diocese, and you wouldn't want to miss anything.

MDI+ Episcopal Churches:

Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made. If you'd like to know more about this or our Pastoral Care Team, please contact our office administrators.

St. Saviour's
Thursdays at 5:30 pm Zoom Evening Prayer. The invitation is below.  You can call in or join by touch tone, smart phone, ipad or computer!

Our Thursday Evening Worship will look a bit different this week. Rather than Evening Prayer, we will meet on Zoom to reflect upon the "Homework" Prayer Exercise that Fr. John Burton provided at the end of Sunday's MDI worship service.

We will conclude with the Daily Devotion for Early Evening from the BCP.
