Please join us for 30 minutes of shared silence and "prayer of the heart," an ancient meditative practice of the Christian tradition. All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion. At St. Saviour's: Kevin Birch will perform a concert of 17th- and 18th-century music for keyboard, on Friday 18 October at 5:30 pm at St. Saviour's, 41 Mt. Desert Street, Bar Harbor. Kevin, who is the music-director and organist at St. John's RC in Bangor, and is well-known to us from our August Organ Recital Series, will be playing this concert on a clavichord. Please make a point to enjoy this rare musical opportunity. Westside Food Pantry The distribution Sundays are as follows: November 3 and 17, December 1 and 15, January 5 and 19, February 2 and 16, March 1 and 15, April 5 and 19. The first Sunday distribution hours are 12 noon to 2 PM, the second Sunday hour is 12 noon to 1 PM. Distribution will be held in Harbor House. Volunteer Briefing: my usual briefing of volunteers on the Pantry operations, changes, and schedule will be held on Thursday, October 26, at St. John Church, 4 PM. You are invited to attend. The next meeting is October 17th at 5 pm. The current focus of the group is hunger among the large number of homeless in Ellsworth. Come to the next meeting to throw out ideas and possible solutions and see what a committed group of caring people can do!
