At St. John's Parish Meeting: Please plan to come this Sunday to an important open parish meeting following the 9:00 service. Besides offering an open forum for discussion about our parish life, your Wardens and Vestry would like to open a conversation about different clergy service options, and potential new opportunities for continuing and expanding the cooperation among island parishes.
Clean Up Day at St. Andrew by-the-Lake, Saturday, June 3 around 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to come and bring rakes, Windex, furniture polish to spruce up the grounds and Sanctuary in preparation for the first service on June 18.
Meditation on Tuesdays at 4:00 at St. John's. Please join us for 30 minutes of shared silence and "prayer of the heart," an ancient meditative practice of the Christian tradition. All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion. If you are new to meditation, have questions or concerns, or would like more information, please contact Mother Kathleen.

at St. Saviour: Holy Eucharist is celebrated on Wednesdays at noon in the Chapel, in a simple, non-musical service. We plan to commemorate saints and seasons using the church's published calendar, as well as focusing on healing for ourselves and for the world.
Caregivers' Support Group meets in the Rectory Library from 1:15 to 2:45 pm (following the Noon Eucharist) the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Open to the entire community!

In Our Community: Supernatural Being: A theatrical performance by Ezra Halkett on Wednesday, May 17, 7:00 p.m. at the Barn Arts Collective, 130 Tremont Road, Bass Harbor and Thursday, May 18, 7:00 p.m. at MDI YMCA, 21 Park Street, Bar Harbor. This autobiographical work by playwright and performer, Ezra Halkett, explores personal issues of faith, hope and the music that brings it out. Developed with Andrew Simon, co-founder of the Barn Arts Collective, the play features live music from the Barn Family Band. Admission by donation.
URGENT! WE NEED PEOPLE OF FAITH TO STEP UP AND SPEAK UP in opposition to a sudden request from Maine's Department of Health and Human Services to the federal Medicaid authorities that would have a devastating impact on Maine's poorest and most vulnerable residents. DHHS has requested a waiver that would allow them to impose severe restrictions and require recipients to pay premiums and copays, effectively preventing their access to health care. There will be two public hearings on this waiver application:

Genetic Tails with the Jesup and JAX: St. Saviour's own Dr. Dan Gatti is creating the "Dogs of MDI" project: a database of DNA from area dogs that will be used to study and teach genomics. Thursday, May 18, 7 PM, at the Jesup Library in Bar Harbor, Dan will present his project and his research on dog genomics. Then on Saturday, May 20, from noon to 4 PM, bring your dog to the Jesup for DNA testing. The test is a non-invasive cheek swab which takes only a few minutes, and later this summer participants will receive a spreadsheet of their dog's DNA information. The cost of the laboratory testing is $105, and your dog cannot eat for 30 minutes prior to testing. Jesup Library: 288-4245.
