Learn to Meditate in Lent: Please join us for a contemplative Lenten series Breathing in the Spirit on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 at St. John’s in Southwest Harbor. We will learn about breathing, the subtlest form of body work, and the prayer of the heart; how the two entwine to carry us deeper into communion with God, and both of which are ancient Christian practices and traditions. Group will meet Thursdays through March 17th, led by Mother Kathleen.
By waiting and by calm you shall be saved, in quiet and in trust your strength lies. (Isaiah 30:15)
During Lent we will be collecting our parish gift to Episcopal Relief & Development. You may put a check in the plate with ERD in the memo line. We will also be collecting for United Thank Offering (UTO). Boxes and envelopes are available at the back of the church. Return your boxes on Palm Sunday.
Volunteer (s) needed to cover the Back Pack Program Friday 2/26, 3/4 and 3/11
Meet Diana Novella from Harbor House in the Undercroft at 10 AM to pack up. HH will deliver to Tremont if necessary. If you are able to pick up apples, baby carrots etc. Michele will reimburse you. We have 11 children as of this week. Also there is a box inside the front door at Bar Harbor Banking & Trust that has food donations. If that could be checked a few times, but watch out for expired and open packages (yuck). This food is used to restock the bag in the back pew and is stored in the closet with the Back Pack food (upper left shelf).
Thanks and Peace, Dianne McMullan.

Are you interested in learning more about world religions? Beginning March 1, Harvard Divinity School is offering a series of free online courses on World Religions through their Scriptures. After an orientation, the six 4-week courses explore Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism through their own sacred texts, taught by Harvard faculty in the individual traditions. For an overview of the class, see https://www.edx.org/xseries/world-religions-through-scriptures. If the idea of an online class seems daunting, talk to Tim+ and we’ll figure it out together.
