Sunday Forums at 10:15 a.m.: Lenten Devotional Study – Back by Popular Demand! After very positive response to our reading and discussion of Brother Albert Holtz’s devotional book From Holidays to Holy Days, this Lent we will be reading and discussing his book, Pilgrim Road. For these Lenten reflections, Brother Albert breaks out of downtown Newark to write daily on his sabbatical travel throughout the world. The meditations begin with Ash Wednesday, and our study will begin Sunday, February 14. The book is $16 from Michele, or on Amazon.
Learn to Meditate in Lent: Please join us for a contemplative Lenten series Breathing in the Spirit on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 at St. John’s in Southwest Harbor. We will learn about breathing, the subtlest form of body work, and the prayer of the heart; how the two entwine to carry us deeper into communion with God, and both of which are ancient Christian practices and traditions. Group will meet Thursday, February 11-March 17, led by Mother Kathleen.

During Lent we will be collecting our parish gift to Episcopal Relief & Development. You may put a check in the plate with ERD in the memo line, or see Margot for envelopes and coin boxes. We will also be collecting for United Thank Offering (UTO). Boxes will be available at the back of the church. Return your boxes on Palm Sunday.
Westside Food Pantry Performance, February 6th: Because one of their members was sick, "The Kelley Farm Five" turned into the "The Kelley Farm Four, Plus One". We missed Amy Kurman's BEAUTIFUL voice! At the last minute, the remaining four members
recruited our Stephen Sampson to help out on the piano. The evening was a lively mix of great arrangements, improvisation, familiar songs, and included a moving original song, "ACADIA", written by band member, Rick Barter. The enthusiasm and energy in the group was mirrored in the audience. The audience LOVED the evening. Many stayed to greet the performers at the reception, which was hosted by Dianne McMullan. Thank you, Dianne!
Thank you to band members Rick Barter, Beth Herrick, Jim Vekasi and Fred Benson--and plus one, Stephen Sampson. Thank you also to Carol Nelson who made the attractive flyers. We enjoyed a great evening of community and music and raised $313 for our food pantry. We are grateful!
St. Saviour:
The Caregiver's Support Group meets in the Rectory Library at St. Saviour's Parish from noon until 1:30 on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. It is open to all local residents who are involved with the care of a loved one in their home or at an institution.
Free Community Valentine Potluck Supper: Friday, February 12, 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Any donations will benefit St. Saviour’s Fire Fund which benefits fire victims on MDI. Bring your family, friends, neighbors.

Reading Beyond the Dirty Pages: Mother Sue will lead a class between services on Sundays learning about The Book of Common Prayer. Each week the group will focus on a different section of the prayer book. This is not a series, so you are welcome for one class or all.

Prayer and Supper on MDI in Lent: Tuesdays (and one Wednesday) in Lent, gather with MDI Episcopalians (and others!) for a quiet, contemplative evening worship service at 4:30 followed by a light supper.

COFFEE’S ON! The Maine Sea Coast Mission cordially invites all MDI Senior Citizens to join them for Coffee, Conversation and Music the first and thirds Tuesdays of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Colket Center, 127 West Street, Bar Harbor. The next get together is Tuesday, February 16 from 9:30 to 11:30 am when the topic will be St. Saviour’s stolen Tiffany Lily Window! Much has changed since the Tiffany Easter Lily window was stolen in the summer of 1988. A group from St. Saviour's, headed by Katherine Whitney, will be discussing some of those changes and how we hope to use them to attempt to recover our window.

an invitation to share your ideas February 5, 2016 Dear Friends in the Diocese of Maine, If you attended Convention in October or read my Convention address online, you are aware that I have called for us to experiment with Convention over the next two years by "deconstructing" it into three separate days: business, education, worship. The latter two would welcome all members of the Diocese. In my address, I called for the Convention Planning Committee, under the leadership of the Rev. Carolyn Eklund of St. Paul's, Brunswick, to gather information that will help inform how we construct these three events. Below is a link to a very brief questionnaire that I invite all members of the Diocese of Maine to complete. By indicating the types of gatherings and educational opportunities you are interested in, you will help the Convention Planning Committee and those crafting the educational and worship events to tailor those gatherings to meet your needs and interests.
