Acadia Choral Society Concert will perform on Saturday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 3 at 3:00 pm at St. Saviour’s. The theme of this year’s concert is “Songs for the Silver Screen”but this isn’t a concert of “movie music” in the usual sense. These are beautiful choral works that have been borrowed and used in film scores. You no doubt recognized Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” in The Right Stuff and many other films. But did you catch a portion of Faure’s “Cantique de Jean Racine” in Babe? How about the anachronistic appearance of Mozart’s Requiem in Elizabeth? Because of their appearance in many films, movements from the requiems of Mozart and Brahms are at the center of this program. Ranging from the Renaissance to the twentieth century, other featured composers include Morley, Byrd, Mendelssohn, and Barber. Tickets are $15 (general admission).

The Alcyon Center in Tremont, is a year round spiritual retreat and conference center. Check out what is coming up there through this link! www.alcyoncenter.org

COFFEE’S ON! The Maine Sea Coast Mission cordially invites all MDI Senior Citizens to join them for Coffee, Conversation and Music the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Colket Center, 127 West Street, Bar Harbor.  It's an enjoyable gathering in a beautiful place.
