All Area Episcopal Churches are invited to join together at Suminsby Park on Sargeant Drive in Northeast Harbor on Sunday. The service will be followed by a potluck picnic hosted by St. Mary and St. Jude. Hot dogs, buns and condiments will be provided as well as bottled water.  Please bring: a chair, a dish to share (salads, finger foods, desserts) and your own dishes and cutlery.  Some extra chairs, dishes and cutlery will be available for those who forget or who have need.  Carpooling is highly recommended due to limited parking.

St. John:

Vestry Meeting: Thursday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the new meeting room.

Dedication: Please join us on Sunday, October 7th (time TBA) when Bishop Stephen Lane will dedicate and bless the new addition to St. John the Divine.

 

St. Saviour:

Contemplative Bible Study begins this week, Friday 14th, noon in the Rectory Library. All are welcome!

All Island Haiti Connection meeting, 5 p.m. Sunday, 16th, with dish-to-pass supper following, and those who wish going on to the Jamaican worship thereafter. Anyone interested in furthering our relationships with folks in the Diocese of Haiti is welcome to attend.

CSA Potluck Community Dinner! Want to know what a CSA is and does? Come to a pot luck community dinner on Tuesday, September 18 at 5:30 pm in St. Saviour's Parish Hall! This will be sponsored by Bar Harbor Community Farm. (that’s a hint as to what a CSA is). Come, join the fun and bring a dish to share!

 

St. Mary and St. Jude:

Stewardship Workshop: Lisa Meeder Turnbull will be at St. Mary’s Chapel, Parish Hall, 9 am to noon, Northeast Harbor on Saturday, September 22 to lead a workshop on stewardship.  Lisa is the stewardship consultant for the Diocese.

 

Church of Our Father:

Holy Eucharist and Breakfast, Wednesdays at 7:00 a.m.; Healing Service on the fourth Wednesday.

 

 

Community Events

Community Supper, Tuesday, September 18, 5:00-6:30, Bar Harbor Congregational Church. The Outreach Board invites to you to join them for our first community meal for this season:  “A Farmer’s Market Supper”.  Bring a neighbor, bring a friend for a meal and conversation. 

 

The MDI Hospital Auxiliary will hold their annual June Bake Sale on Monday, September 24 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in front of The First on Main Street. Many luncheon items will be available along with pies, cookies and all the special things that a bake sale brings! Baked goods and monetary donations are welcomed! The Auxiliary has recently pledged $50,000 to the new Women’s Health Center and appreciates the support of our community! Gracious God, we offer thanks for our parish, for your inspiration, and for the many generous open hearts whose donations will bring accessibility to all at St. John’s. Guide us all as the planned expansion of the facilities comes to reality. We thank you for the various trades and skills of those who work on the addition. Protect and guide them as they labor, that they may take pride in their accomplishments. Inspire us to share faithfully the love that you have revealed to us through the ministry and sacrifice of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
