Training for Lectors, Acolytes, and Chalice Bearers: Wednesday, December 9^th at 4:00 p.m.; repeated Saturday, December 12^th at 9:00 a.m. in the Nave. Standards and procedures for these important ministries will be reviewed. New and veteran lay ministers are encouraged to attend one of these sessions. If neither time is convenient, please contact Fr. Tardiff.

 

Holden Evening Prayer: Wednesday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Ellsworth invites you to join us for a beautiful sung vespers service.  Come a bit earlier, at 6:00 p.m. and have a simple supper and enjoy a time of Advent fellowship. FMI:  667-7641

 

Organ Recital: Friday, December 11 at 12:15, Julia Morris-Myers will be giving her annual organ recital of Music for Advent and Christmas at St. Saviour’s Parish. Tenor Jay Emlen will be joining her in a number of selections, including the famous Comfort Ye from Messiah. Come and bring your friends and neighbors!

 

Gift cards suitable for Christmas gifts, hostess gifts, and any other giving are available again this fall for a $10 donation to the Westside Food Pantry. This year they will feature small original watercolor designs on the envelopes. Cards may be purchased at the church office or by calling Cass Wright at 244-5459.

Be an Angel: Looking to the Christmas Season, the Westside Food Pantry will be organizing Christmas Dinners in cooperation with the Southwest Harbor Food Mart.  We are also beginning the process of signing up our client’s children for the Angel Tree.  This heartwarming project that is sponsored by the First National Bank has become a Westside holiday tradition.  Please stop in to the Main Street branch of “The First” to choose a name (and become someone’s Angel).

 

Opportunities to learn and practice Non Violent Communication (NVC): Lynne Hutchinson (667-0188), lynne@lynnehutchinson.com , will offer a brief NVC intro at the first session on Wednesday, December 9^th, 6:30-8:15 p.m. at the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth. Lynne will offer a six week class in January-February.

 

Discount offered: During December, the Sand Castle Ocean and Nature Store on Main Street in SWH is offering a 20% discount on most items in the store to customers who bring in food items for the Westside Food Pantry.

 

The Quietside Nativity: Friday, December 18^th, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Music and refreshment available inside the church. Needed: angels, shepherds, Mary, Joseph, etc. and volunteers to help with costumes and food. Contact church office if interested.

 

Christmas Wreaths: If you would like to donate in memory of or in honor of a loved one this year, please sign up in the undercroft after the service. Note on your check “Christmas Flowers”. Names will be printed in the Christmas Eve bulletin.
