100 Cards Needed: Georgie Seavey will turn 100 on September 25th. Let’s try to collect 100 Birthday cards here at St. John’s for her milestone birthday. Send them to St. Andrew & St. John Episcopal Church, PO Box 767, SWH, ME 04679.

Seasonal Friends: As you begin to pack up to return home, please consider leaving your unopened, un-expired, non-perishable food stuffs with the Westside Food Pantry. All indications are that this will be another rough winter for many year round residents, and this would be a great way to help the communities that you love. The non-perishables may be dropped off at St. John’s. Any questions, call Barbara Campbell at 244-9087.

Library Walk-a-thon: Sunday, September 27 at 12:15. You are invited to be part of our “Food Pantry-Plus” team. The money raised will benefit the SWH Library and represent our commitment to being a positive force in the community. To sign up or ask questions, call Cass Wright (244-5459) or Ann Benson (288-9892).

Green & Lean is a free series of monthly lectures which focuses on ways to save money and resources.  They have adopted a very pragmatic approach – no technical jargon, no complicated concepts, just straightforward information you can put to use in your own home or place of work. Next meeting will be Wednesday, September 16th at 7 PM, Eating Local, Organic & Cheap.  This event will feature a tasting of dishes made with locally grown ingredients. Held at St. John Episcopal Church; sponsored by ROOTs, St. John Episcopal Church, & Downeast Group of the Sierra Club. Contact Erika Shriner, 244-3532 for more information.

St. Andrew Lutheran Church invites you to celebrate 25 years as a congregation and 20 years in their building. On Friday, September 18, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM will be a benefit supper - turkey and all the trimmings.  Proceeds will be split between the Emmaus Center and Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. On Saturday, September 19 you are invited to a program of music and memories at 7 PM, followed by cake and ice cream.

Come Home for Supper: Friday, October 16 -- sign up on Sundays, September 27 or October 4, or call Ida Smallidge, Ken Cochrane & Rita Redfield, or Joan & Ted Bromage.  Call also with any questions or comments...and new host/esses are always welcome.
