Thursday Discussions from 1-2 pm with Debbie Little Wyman (May 3 and 31) and with The Rev. Johanna Karen Johannson (May 10, 17, 24). Come as you can.

Nametags – please remember to wear your nametags at church once Father Fleck arrives. This will make it easier for him to get to know your names. Also take your nametag with you to wear at the May 27^th joint service at St. Saviour’s. If you need a name tag, please let Michele know (saints315@myfairpoint.net or 664-4237).

 

St. Saviour’s:

Clergy presence: The Rev. Debbie Little Wyman (May 3 and 31) and The Rev. Johanna Karen Johannson (May 10, 17, 24) will be available for open conversation in the library from 9:30-10:30.

 

St. Saviour’s and St. John’s:

Joint Service – Sunday, May 27 – 10:00 a.m. at St. Saviour’s followed by a reception to welcome The Rev. Timothy Fleck and Bob Schmeler.

 

St. Mary’s and St. Jude’s

The 2012 General Convention of the Episcopal Church Adult Forums resume with a review of this important National Church meeting and the main issues that will be reviewed, discussed and voted on.  Come to find out what’s up for your church!

May 6 – The Anglican Covenant – what is it?  Will we approve it?

May 13 – the Blessing of same gender commitments – new liturgies to approve

May 20 – Proposed restructuring of the National Church – will we undertake this?

Forums meet after 9 am worship upstairs in the Parish Hall and last 45 minutes to an hour.

 

Church of Our Father

Holy Eucharist and Breakfast, Wednesdays at 7:00 a.m.; Healing Service on the fourth Wednesday.

Cleaning Out Closets:  "Waste Not, Want Not Thrift Shop" is now accepting good clean clothing and linens for the shop. Opening day is June 16th on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Wednesday evenings from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Please leave donations in the Parish Hall during May, June and throughout the summer at your convenience. Call 664-0116 for more information. Thank you!

 

Community Events:

Serendipity, the clothing resale shop that benefits the Bar Harbor Food Pantry, has moved to downtown Bar Harbor. They are now located next to the fire station and has expanded hours for both shopping and volunteering. If you are interested in helping at Serendipity, please contact Kathe Simons at kathe@simonshome.org or 288-2000. The next volunteer training day is scheduled for Sunday, May 20 from 1-3 p.m. Serendipity is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays (12:00-4:00), Thursday and Fridays (12:00-7:00) and Saturdays (10:00-4:00) Please stop in and see the new store!

 

Touch A Truck, Saturday May 19th from 10am-2pm is the annual Touch A Truck event held at the Bar Harbor Airport. Fun for the whole family! Come see the inside and outside of more than 50 vehicles! Earthmovers, excavators, diggers, rescue vehicles, fire trucks, 18-wheelers, limousine, ambulance, snow plow, cherry picker, dump truck, bulldozer and many more humongous vehicles! This is a great fundraiser for the Harbor House Children's Center Scholarship fund and the Westside Food Pantry.

 

National Post Office Food Drive, Saturday May 12.  You can donate by simply hanging a bag of non-perishable food items from your mailbox and our local postal workers will gather them on their route.

Guide us all as the planned expansion of the facilities comes to reality. We thank you for the various trades and skills of those who work on the addition. Protect and guide them as they labor, that they may take pride in their accomplishments. Inspire us to share faithfully the love that you have revealed to us through the ministry and sacrifice of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thursday Discussion with Debbie Little Wyman, from 1-2 pm; on the subject of the Resurrection. What does resurrection mean to me, to how I live, to how I anticipate my death? Come as you can. We invite topics for future Thursday discussions.

 

St. Saviour’s:

Thursday Conversation Group from 9:30 - 10:30 in the Library with Debbie Little Wyman on the topic “The journey from Resurrection to Pentecost: what does it mean for each of us and for our community?” Discussion will begin with experiences of the early Christians as well as our own.  Please join us. No preparation required. Came and go as you are able. The Rev. Little Wyman will also be available in the Rectory Study from 10:30-11:45 a.m. on Thursdays for anyone wishing a private conversation with a priest.
