From the Wardens:
Small Group Discussions: scheduled for July 23rd at 4PM and August 2nd at 4PM and is limited to 12 people plus Wardens. Place: St. John's lawn or Sanctuary subject to weather. Purpose: Profile/Search Committee Update; YouTube MDI Services; and MDI Episcopal Partnership. Call the church office, Gen or Ted to reserve your spot.

MDI YouTube Services have been scheduled through July and August. St. Andrew and St. John's service will be August 2nd. Michele has been assigning readers this week and perhaps next week. Rev. John Burton will conduct a communion service observing Covid19 restrictions.

Each of the four churches are responsible for their service. Their administrator assigns the readers for the service. An effort is made to include participants from the four churches. A "runner" moves the recording devices (IPhone & tripod) to each participant. William Fletcher has agreed to be the "runner" for our August 2nd service.

It takes approximately 2-3 weeks to produce each Sunday service. Those who volunteer are to be thanked for taking this "leap into the unknown."  God leads us on paths we could never imagine,

The MDI Partnership will be meeting Monday, July 20th at 5PM on Zoom. Some of the agenda items include September services, YouTube Services and sharing equipment expenses. Those in attendance will be the officers of each church including clergy and supply clergy.

Reflection from Margot Haertel
I've been going through a lot of books to send to our "kids" and found a book of poetry.  One poem that I have loved was in it.  The title is "Hope is the Thing With Feathers." It says a lot about how I am feeling during this stay-at-home order.  Paul and I have been on many hikes on the Island with binoculars in hand.  Birding is our interest and keeps our minds active by identifying birds that are arriving from the south every day.  Emily Dickenson is still a favorite poet of mine.

Hope is the Thing with Feathers

Hope is the thing with feathers
                    that perches in the soul.
And sings the tune without the words,
                    and never stops at all.

And sweetest in the gale is heard
and sore must be the storm
that could abash the little bird
                    that keeps so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land
                    and on the strangest sea,
                Yet never in extremity
it asked a crumb of me.
                                     Emily Dickenson

Hope we can get through this time of trial with a smile on our faces and not through a mask.
