At St. John's

Safe Arrival: I want to first let you know that John and I arrived safely at our destination in Miami on Saturday evening. We had by that point understood that Hurricane Dorian was likely going to move north of Miami and that the larger danger might be to delay and be caught in weather as we headed down the coast. We are grateful that we were able to avoid the danger and destruction this storm continues to inflict and offer our prayers for those who are affected. We also want thank you all for the care and love you offered in saying farewell to us. We were deeply touched and want you to know that you--as well as our sisters and brothers in the other partnership parishes--hold a special place in our hearts. We remain united to you as members of the Body of Christ and continue on with you in prayer and witness.
With gratitude and blessing,
John+ and Kathleen+

Meditation on Tuesdays at 4:00 at St. John's. Please join us for 30 minutes of shared silence and "prayer of the heart," an ancient meditative practice of the Christian tradition. All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion.

Westside Food Pantry
The Island Quilt Guild has donated a beautiful handmade quilt to benefit the Pemetic and Tremont School Backpack Program. The quilt is on display at the Harbor House.
Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.  The drawing will be held October 14th.

From the Diocese of Maine{Diocese of Maine}

As a Parish of the Diocese of Maine, we are part of a church family that extends from Kittery to Fort Kent, and connects us to the rest of the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion.  We share ministry with our Bishop and with every worshipping community.
If you are not subscribed to the Diocesan twice monthly email newsletter, the DioLog, please click [here] to subscribe.  If you are subscribed, don't forget to open it and read it every time!  There is a lot going on in every corner of the Diocese, and you wouldn't want to miss anything.

Save the Date for the Formal Seating of Bishop Thomas James Brown: On Saturday, October 26th, following business at the 200th Convention of the Diocese and Bicentennial Celebration Kick-off, the newly consecrated bishop will be formally welcomed at the Cathedral of Saint Luke in Portland and seated in the cathedra, or bishop's chair, that is symbolic of the bishop's office. More information about how you can attend this service will be shared here at episcopalmaine.org/convention/maine2019

Tickets are $7 at the door, or may be purchased in advance at Eventbrite.com. The Din & Tonics are world-famous for their impeccable musicality, snappy choreography, and hilarious antics. Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made.
