We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion. Westside Food Pantry Golf Tournament: Tuesday, June 4, Kebo Golf Club, Bar Harbor. The Pantry needs to supply volunteers to work in a variety of ways throughout the day (8 AM -- 6:30 PM). Duties include: set-up, registration, hole supervision, auction/raffle facilitation, evening dinner support, and clean up. Your schedule and duties will be based on your availability and preferences or restrictions. You can help out all day, half a day, or the hours that you specify. It is important that the Pantry supply volunteers to help alongside the Bar Harbor Bank and Trust employees and the Bar Harbor Food Pantry volunteers. In other words, we need to do as much as we can to help make this day succeed! I plan to be there all day, and I hope that you will join me for all or some of the day. Thank you all for your support | | From the Diocese of Maine As a Parish of the Diocese of Maine, we are part of a church family that extends from Kittery to Fort Kent, and connects us to the rest of the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion. We share ministry with our Bishop and with every worshipping community. If you are not subscribed to the Diocesan twice monthly email newsletter, the DioLog, please click [here] to subscribe. If you are subscribed, don't forget to open it and read it every time! There is a lot going on in every corner of the Diocese, and you wouldn't want to miss anything. You are invited to a special worship service at the Ocean Park Temple on Sunday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m. with guest preacher, the Most Rev. Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church. Bishop Curry is excited to be in Maine with us to share the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone not just Episcopalians but people of all faiths and even those who are "just looking". The Temple at Orchard Park is a historic, interdenominational space open only during the summer months. We are thrilled that Bishop Curry is the first preacher for the 2019 season. Remember how Bishop Curry captivated the world with his words at the Royal Wedding last year? Well, this will be an extraordinary opportunity to hear Bishop Curry preach in his inimitable style. Bishop Curry is quick to say it is not about him. Rather, it is the message itself. "The God who loves us into being and redeems us envisions more for us than we can imagine. Our call, in faith and hope, is to live in to that dream by following in the footsteps of Jesus - not just in our heads, but with our hearts, and with our feet." If you cannot join us, you will be able to see the sermon via live stream or a recorded version on the Diocese of Maine website. And, in case you don't already know, Bishop Curry will be back with us in Bangor, Maine on 2 May 2019 to help us celebrate the Bicentennial (200th) Anniversary of the Episcopal Diocese in Maine. | | MDI+ Episcopal Churches: Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made. If you'd like to know more about this or our Pastoral Care Team, please contact our office administrators or Mother Kathleen. Church of Our Father: The Men's Group meeting will be held on Monday, May 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the parish hall. The speaker for the evening is Steve Richards, who will talk about his experiences as the Red Cross representative in Moscow during the time that the Soviet Union broke up into 17 different countries. The chef for the evening will be Steve Biggers. Please join us. | | Community: Families First Community Center is putting out a call for volunteers. Primarily we are looking for help to finish the house, so we can open to families in need. Right now we are framing interior walls, mostly we need people to just help. You don't need to be an expert. If you can use a tape measure, carry a 2x4 and use a chop saw you are perfect. We also need people to help staple light weight proper vents, drill holes for electrical wire. General clean up, moving and picking up materials and donations. Drywall repair, and assisting with plumbing. We are very flexible and can work around your schedule. Saturdays have been the most popular time, but people can come during the week as well. We just need to know, so we have materials and someone there. Contact us and let us know who you are, what is the best way to contact you, and your general availability. We are making good progress, but many hands make light work.
