At St. John's  During Advent we are studying The Way of Love, Practices for Jesus-Centered Life. Our Presiding Bishop Michael Curry invites all Episcopalians to Journey the Way of Love together, exploring how we can grow more centered in Jesus and share his loving, liberating, and life-giving way in the world. Please join us on Sundays at 9:00 during December to take part in this church-wide movement!
CHRISTMAS FLOWERS -- Please consider making a donation in memory of a loved one for the Christmas Eve service. The names will be printed in the bulletin. A sign-up sheet is available in this Sunday's bulletin and in the Undercroft.
Meditation on Tuesdays at 4:00 at St. John's. Please join us for 30 minutes of shared silence and "prayer of the heart," an ancient meditative practice of the Christian tradition. All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion. If you are new to meditation, have questions or concerns, or would like more information, please contact Mother Kathleen. There will be no meditation on Christmas Day. Westside Food Pantry

Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made. St. Saviour's: The Longest Night: Advent and Christmas are joyous times for many, but for others they are a time heavy with grief, anger, and sadness. While our culture tells us relentlessly that we should be celebrating a perfect Christmas, our very human feelings of loss or loneliness may make joy difficult. If Christmas is a hard time for you, please consider joining the community at St. Saviour's Church for a service of quiet prayer and remembrance, for sharing grief with one another and with the God who knows what it is to be human. Community: COME TO THE MDI COFFEE HOUSE! Formerly known as Coffee's On, Island Connections has changed the name to encourage all ages to come for coffee, goodies, and conversation. Meeting at the YWCA on Mount Desert Street in Bar Harbor, December's gatherings are on December 11 and 18 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (Usually on the first and third Thursdays, note December's change.) The Alcyon Center is a place of contemplation and peace, offering a variety of programs including quiet days, a gathering of women to discuss various topics through poetry, personal experiences (Soul Friends), a monthly quiet day and a weekly study of the Gospel for the coming Sunday.
