Meditation on Thursdays at 4:00 at St. John’s. Please join us for 30 minutes of shared silence and “prayer of the heart,” an ancient meditative practice of the Christian tradition. All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion. If you are new to meditation, have questions or concerns, or would like more information, please contact Mother Kathleen.
Feed Your Neighbor and Your Soul: Be A Pantry Volunteer. The new Westside Food Pantry opened for its 26th season on November 6. We are always in need of a volunteer or two to help us with the twice-monthly distributions at Harbor House. Volunteers gather to assist our neighbors in receiving vouchers for monthly food purchases. It's a chance to first-hand share your own compassion and kindness to help a neighbor. And, of course, your own soul is fed as well. We are a COMMUNITY TOGETHER: FAR & NEAR. Contact Dean Henry at deanhenry27@gmail.com, or phone 664-8615 for further information.
Thanksgiving Basket Distribution: Bar Harbor Congregational Church will once again team with the Westside Food Pantry to provide Thanksgiving Meal Baskets to the westside. Applications for the baskets will be filled-out at the November Sunday distributions of the Pantry. The baskets will be prepared by the BH Congregational Church, the Pantry will provide financial assistance with the baskets and meat, as well as transport and distribute the baskets from Southwest Harbor. Here's where we need your help. Two opportunities in this project. Please consider one or both. If you can help or have any questions, phone Dean Henry at 664-8615.
1. Monday, November 21: pick-up baskets from BH Congregational Church and return them to the Southwest Harbor Fire Station. We need hatchback, van, or pickup truck vehicles and drivers. We meet at the Congo Church at 12:30, Monday, Nov. 21, load, and return to SWH. We should be finished around 1:45 PM. Also, if you can help load and/or unload vehicles, but do not have transportation let me know.
2. Tuesday, November 22: Help distribute food baskets from the SWH Fire Station from 11 AM until 1 PM. (Please arrive about 10:45) This involves retrieving the baskets by assigned number and provide a voucher for meat pickup at the Southwest Food Mart.

Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made. If you’d like to know more about this or our Pastoral Care Team, please contact our office administrators or Mother Kathleen.
St. Saviour:
Holy Eucharist is celebrated on Wednesdays at noon in the Chapel, in a simple, non-musical service. We plan to commemorate saints and seasons using the church’s published calendar, as well as focusing on healing for ourselves and for the world.
St. Mary & St. Jude:
Prayer Shawl Ministry, Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.
Contemplative Prayer Group: Tuesdays at 4:30, join Deacon John in exploring the practice of Christian meditation and contemplative prayer. Meetings will take place in St. Mary's Chapel and will include instruction and practice in this ancient form of prayer. While not required, recommended supplemental reading is Into the Silent Land: A Guide to the Practice of Contemplation by Martin Laird.
Church of Our Father:
The ECW CHRISTMAS FAIR will be Saturday, December 3 from 9 am to 1 pm. “Jolly Junk” tables with special goodies for sale; Cooked Food, Baked Goods, Jams, Jellies, Breads, Bars and Cookies; Christmas White Elephants; Crafts; knit goods; and a Soup and Sandwich Luncheon.
St. Dunstan’s:
St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, located at 134 State Street in Ellsworth will present its annual Holiday Food & Fine Crafts Sale on Saturday, November 19 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Proceeds from this event will benefit two Washington Hancock Community Agency (WHCA) programs. The Heating and Warmth Fund (THAW), which supplies heating assistance to many area individuals and families and Friendship Cottage, which provides adult day care meals and activities in a caring facility will both benefit from the sale of products and menu items.
Shop for your holiday presents and enjoy the work of local jewelry, weaving, fabric, art glass and ceramic artisans. Pies, cookies, jams and other baked goods will be available for sale as well. Decorated table trees, ready to go gift tray baskets and other gifts will be available for immediate purchase to round out your holiday shopping. Many silent auction items will be up for bid including gift certificates from area merchants and restaurants, wine racks, jewelry and crafts. Children can join the fun by stopping at our children's corner to select a gift for loved ones for $1.
Breakfast items, as well as a chowder, soup and sandwich luncheon will be available for purchase.

Community:
THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY SERVICE: The Community Service this year is at Bar Harbor Congregational Church (UCC), 29 Mount Desert Street, on Sunday, November 20th at 3:00 p.m. This service is a collaboration among clergy from several different congregations, and is intended as an opportunity for the whole community to gather across the lines of denominations and traditions to remember the many blessings in our lives in an ecumenical service of scripture, prayer, hymns, and thanksgiving. We will also be celebrating and blessing the Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes prepared by members of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church and others. Fellowship and refreshments will follow the service next door at St. Saviour’s.
Note that this will be the Thanksgiving worship service for St. John and St. Saviour; there will not be a separate service on Thursday.
Coffee’s On is back for the winter months at Colket House, the Mission Headquarters on West Street in Bar Harbor. The coffee house will run from November through April on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 9:30-11:30 am. All MDI seniors will be welcome, and transportation will be available. Call 288-5097 for more information.
