St. John:

 

FREE Cooking Class with James Lindquist from Red Sky in Southwest Harbor. Taking place on Monday April 4th and 11th from 1-3 PM in the kitchen. Come to one or both. For more information call 244-4582.

 

Westside Food Pantry Recital Series continues celebrating the 25th year of our Westside Food Pantry with the APRIL 23rd performance by TIMBERED LAKE—Diana Newman and Crow Suncloud.   The Saturday evening performance begins at 6:30 and will run for one hour. A reception will follow in the undercroft.  Suggested donation is $10 and ALL proceeds will go to our food pantry. FMI contact: Susan Buell, 244-8061.

 

St. Saviour:

“Spring into Spring” Concert, Saturday, April 2nd at 4:00 p.m. MDI Jazz Ensemble with Beaux Higgins and the Grand Piano Artistry of Bill Trowell. Admission is $ 20/ $10 student. Tickets available from St. Saviour’s, Church of Our Father office or on their website, St. John’s, or at the door the day of the event. This is our "sending church” fundraiser for Chuck and Beth Bradshaw’s third year in Mityana. There will be a "Meet and Greet "after the concert in the Parish Hall for the Bradshaws with refreshments.

 

The Caregiver's Support Group meets in the Rectory Library from noon until 1:30 on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. It is open to all local residents who are involved with the care of a loved one in their home or at an institution.

 

Church of Our Father:

Prayer Shawl Ministry, Wednesdays at 1:30 in the Parish Hall.

 

School of Healing Prayer, Thursday-Saturday, April 28-30. There is a fee of $150.00. Food will be provided including lunch, snacks, coffee and tea. Please contact Deb Scott-Henderson for an application at 244-7288.

Community:

 

The Best Ever Spaghetti Dinner, to benefit the Westside Food Pantry, will be held on Saturday, April 9, from 5-7 p.m. at the Southwest Harbor congregational Church, 29 High Road, SWH.  Price ($7/person or $25/family) includes homemade meat and vegetarian sauces, salad, bread, and desserts provided by some of the best cooks on the island. Gluten free pasta will also be available.

 

COFFEE’S ON! The Maine Sea Coast Mission cordially invites all MDI Senior Citizens to join them for Coffee, Conversation and Music on April 5 and 19 from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Colket Center, 127 West Street, Bar Harbor.

April 1 – Quiet Day – open to all (a period of silence from 9:00 am to noon; lunch with conversation noon to 1:00 pm; silence 1:00 to 4:00 pm)

April 1 – Soul Friends, a gathering of women for contemplation, discussion of a specific topic through poetry, literature and personal experience and reflection - 7:00-9:00 pm

April 6 – Bible Reconnaissance – open to all – an in depth approach to Bible study, concentrating on John 21:19-31 – 3:30-5:00 pm

April 13 – Bible Reconnaissance – open to all – an in depth approach to Bible study, concentrating on John 10:22-30 – 3:30-5:00 pm

April 20 – Bible Reconnaissance – open to all – an in depth approach to Bible Study, concentrating on John 13:31-35 – 3:30-5:00 pm

April 22 – “At the Edges of Our Dying” guest teacher Jan Booth, end-of-life nurse coach, educator, musician - the new, emerging models for end of life care that are helping us re-imagine how we prepared to die – 6:30-8:30 pm - $15

April 23 – “Following the Thread” guest teacher Jan Booth, end of life nurse coat, educator, musician - an experiential workshop in deep living and dying well - 9:30 am-4:30 pm - $60 April 24-29 – Alcyon Work Week (please call ahead as times are variable) a blend of work, meditation, silence, rest, conversation, common meals, play and spiritual practice

 

Coming events with guest teachers include May 16 (Martin Laird – “My only me is God” – a five day contemplative prayer intensive); June 10 (Susan MacKenzie “Retreat 101:  Welcome to Beginners”); June 23 (Robert Sardello “Know Thyself:  a Soul Retreat”)
