St. John and St. Saviour

Mutual Study of Ministry: As part of our Letter of Agreement among St. Andrew & John, St. Saviour, Father Tim and the Diocese, we have committed to participating in a Mutual Study of Ministry process after eighteen months together.  Both Vestries met with Canon Missioner Heidi Shott on Sunday, January 12 to begin this process.  The next steps will involve one-on-one interviews conducted by vestry members with parishioners representing a cross-section of both congregations to discuss our experience of our shared ministry over the last year and a half.  If you receive a phone call in the next month asking to schedule an interview, please try to be generous with your time and opinions:  it will be very helpful.  Not everyone will be interviewed, but if you want to make sure your views are heard, you may volunteer for an interview by contacting your warden (Pamela Smith, Sr. Warden (St. Saviour); Bunny Watts, Sr. Warden (St. Andrew & John); Linda Foster, Jr. Warden (St. Saviour);  Jr. Warden (St. Andrew & John) to be elected today).

St. Saviour’s

Free Community Valentine Supper, February 11, 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Any donations will benefit St. Saviour’s MDI Fire Fund which benefits fire victims on Mt. Desert Island.

Men’s Group: Meal & Speaker, Monday, January 20, 6 p.m. Tedd Higgins will talk about his experiences during, and reflections of, his recent trip to the famous Angola State Prison in Louisiana (nicknamed the “Alcatraz of the South” and “The Farm”) where he went to visit Mr. Robert McKee. It is the largest maximum security prison in the US with 5,000 inmates and 1,800 staff.  It is located on an 18,000-acre property where farms produce food for all the other prisons in Louisiana.

Holy Eucharist is celebrated on Wednesday mornings at 8:00 followed by a light breakfast.
