Come Home for Supper: Save the date for the next Come Home for Supper gatherings! On April 28th, we will gather in small groups in each other's homes, sharing an organized pot luck meal, and, if past experience holds true, some lively conversation. Sign up in the Undercroft or call Rita Redfield or Elaine Theriault.

 

The second annual Downeast Spiritual Life Conference will be held at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel and Conference Center August 23-34. The theme this year is Spirituality in Our Times: Embracing Diversity, Creating Community. St. John's will be heading up ad sales for the program. Volunteers are needed to call on businesses. If you own a business and are interested in placing an ad please let us know. Donations are also being accepted in any amount to support the conference. Donor's names will be listed in the program. They may be sent to the church office marked for the event. Children, Incorporated: Remember to sign up to sponsor our Costa Rican child, Sharon Dayana Salazar. Sharon is now in the 7th grade, enjoys history, music and art. She lives with her mother, grandmother and two brothers in Tejarcillo. The church pays up front for the year’s sponsorship; but you are invited (and encouraged) to pay for a month ($28) or more. Please sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board in the undercroft. Checks should be made out to St. John’s and marked “Outreach: Child Sponsorship”.

 

St. Saviour:

Free Community Supper: Tuesday, April 16th from 5:00–6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Come enjoy home made soup, sandwiches and desserts with your MDI community. All are welcome!

 

Community Events

Flash In The Pans Steel Band will hold a free concert on Sunday, April 21st at 3pm at the Ramada Inn - 215 High Street, Ellsworth. Bring your family and friends and a picnic chair, shake off the winter doldrums and dance your feet off during an afternoon of great entertainment by noted area steel band Flash in the Pans - always a hit wherever they perform! Refreshments available and parking is available at the back of the inn right near the event! Donations will be welcomed for Everybody Eats, a Free Community Meal which is open to the public every Monday from 3-6 pm in the Parish Hall of St. Dunstan’s Church, 134 State Street, Ellsworth. 

 

Flamenco Native American Fusion Dancing: Friday, April 26th, 5:00-8:00 at Common Good Café, 566 Seawall, Southwest Harbor. Fundraiser for David Moses Bridges, Passamaquoddy birch bark artist, who is undergoing major surgery.

 

Have you ever dreamed of a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land? Contact Bob Schmeler-Fleck for more information about a group planning a trip this November to Jerusalem, Galilee, and the Rose City of Petra, Jordan.
