Georgie Belle Seavey, 102, died October 9, 2011 at an MDI healthcare facility. She was born Sept. 25, 1909 in Seal Cove the daughter of George H. and Mildred G. (Butler) Freeman.
She attended the Center School in Seal Cove. Georgie was a homemaker for her three children and husband. She had many jobs during her lifetime including working at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor for 17 years. She was a member of St. Andrews by the Lake, of Seal Cove and St. John's Episcopal Church, of Southwest Harbor. Georgie was a member of the West Tremont Ladies Aid and volunteered at Sonogee Rehabilitation and Living Center.
Georgie is survived by three sons, Douglas Freeman and wife, Jean, of Mt. Desert, Merrill L. Seavey Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Seal Cove and George H. Seavey and wife Margaret, of West Tremont; a sister-in-law Jean Freeman and friend Steve Moore, of Auburn, 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a great-great- granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Merrill L. Seavey Sr., a son Roger Seavey and his wife Pat, a brother William Freeman and a daughter-in-law, Marguerite Seavey.
Friends are invited to call 4-6pm, Tues., Oct. 11, 2011 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert where funeral services will be held 10 am, Wed. Oct. 12. Interment will be at Pretty Marsh Cemetery, Pretty Marsh.
