St. John’s:

Thursday Discussion with Debbie Little Wyman, from 1-2 pm; on the subject of the Resurrection. What does resurrection mean to me, to how I live, to how I anticipate my death? Come as you can. We invite topics for future Thursday discussions.

 

St. Saviour’s:

Thursday Conversation Group from 9:30 - 10:30 in the Library with Debbie Little Wyman on the topic “The journey from Resurrection to Pentecost: what does it mean for each of us and for our community?” Discussion will begin with experiences of the early Christians as well as our own.  Please join us. No preparation required. Came and go as you are able. The Rev. Little Wyman will also be available in the Rectory Study from 10:30-11:45 a.m. on Thursdays for anyone wishing a private conversation with a priest.

 

St. Mary’s and St. Jude’s

The 2012 General Convention of the Episcopal ChurchAdult Forums resume with a review of this important National Church meeting and the main issues that will be reviewed, discussed and voted on.  Come to find out what’s up for your church!

Apr. 29 – Introduction to General Convention

May 6 – The Anglican Covenant – what is it?  Will we approve it?

May 13 – the Blessing of same gender commitments – new liturgies to approve

May 20 – Proposed restructuring of the National Church – will we undertake this?

Forums meet after 9 am worship upstairs in the Parish Hall and last 45 minutes to an hour.

Joyous news!
The Vestries of St. Andrew & St. John and St. Saviour’s have called The Reverend Timothy Fleck of the Diocese of Lexington, KY as our new joint Priest-In-Charge.  We anticipate that Tim and his partner Bob Schmeler will move to MDI by the end of May and Tim will begin this new position then.
We look forward to this wonderful new relationship!

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets bi-monthly on Thursday mornings (weekly in the summer). For additional information or to join the group, please call Phyllis Partridge.

St. Dunstan’s:

Bunco Fundraiser – A FUNraiser for St. Dunstan’s, Saturday April 21^st starting at 6:00 pm.  A potluck dinner will be available.  Fee is $10 per person to play.  Hosted by Jamie and Peg Rudolf-White at their home, 124 Windsor Way, Ellsworth. 

 

Best Ever Spaghetti Dinner: Saturday, April 14 from 5-7 p.m. at SWH Congregational Church, 29 High Road (off Clark Point Road). Homemade meat and vegetarian sauces, salad, bread and desserts provided by some of the best cooks on the island. Cost is $7/person or $25/family. Proceeds will benefit the Westside Food Pantry.

 

Central Maine Integrity Chapter Meeting: April 15 at 1:00 PM. Pot Luck Luncheon and Meeting at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 9 Summer Street. Augusta. You are invited to join us as we discuss how to be an inclusive, welcoming church to all people.

Flash In The Pans plays for Everybody Eats! Ramada Inn - 215 High Street, Ellsworth. Sunday, April 22^nd at 3:00 pm. Bring your family, friends and a picnic chair to the building at the back of the Ramada and settle in for an afternoon of dancing and great entertainment by noted area steel band Flash In The Pans - always a hit wherever they perform! Refreshments available. Donations will be welcome for Everybody Eats, a Free Community Meal.

 

Free Meals Available in our community:

Each Monday from 3-6 p.m. Everybody Eats provides a free meal in the parish hall of St. Dunstan’s Church, 134 State Street, Ellsworth.

Each Thursday from noon-2:00 The Common Good Soup Kitchen provides a meal at 566 Seawall Road in Southwest Harbor.

Each Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Soup Dinner at Holy Redeemer Church, 21 Ledgelawn Street, Bar Harbor.
