ST. JOHN’S EVENTS & NEWS

Text Box: Ascension Day, May 1st – 5:30 p.m. – Eucharist and Music.Marguerite Carter Scott, a lifelong member of St. Andrew & St. John, departed this life on Sunday, April 27, having served the Lord for 95 years. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. A funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at St. John the Divine. 

 

This Sunday May 4th – Holy Eucharist: 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Lectionary readings: Psalm 68:1-10, 33-36; Acts 1:6-14; 1 Peter 4:12-14, 5:6-11; John 17:1-11.

Gifts from the people of Maine: We have been blessed by the ministry of Bishop Knudsen and with hope and joy as we look forward to Bishop-Elect Lane’s episcopate. It is traditional to acknowledge these blessings with gifts. It is customary to have a portrait made of the retiring Bishop which will hang in the Cathedral Upper Hall. And, traditionally, the people of the Diocese present a new bishop with a Pectoral Cross. Checks can be sent to Terrance Reimer, Diocesan Finance Office, 143 State Street, Portland ME 04101 with a notation that they are for the Transition Fund.
