Lenten Study: Julia Morris-Myers and Sarah Flynn will be offering a Lenten study on Kathleen Norris' Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith.  Do you struggle with the words of our faith, such as judgment, dogma, salvation or sinner? If so, this is the class for you!  Norris blends history, theology, storytelling and memoir in this fascinating book which encourages us to embrace ancient traditions and find faith in our contemporary world.  The class will meet on Fridays in Lent, beginning February 22, from 12-1 in the Rectory Library.  Please order your own book (used for as little as .01 on Amazon) and look for the vocabulary you'd like us to talk about. Please talk with Julia (667-9529) or Sarah (244-9496) for more information.  This is a great book and we anticipate lots of lively discussion!

FREE Community Valentine Pancake Supper! Shrove Tuesday, February 12 from 5-6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Any donations will benefit St. Saviour’s MDI Fire Fund which benefits fire victims on Mt. Desert Island.  Bring your family, friends, neighbors. ALL are welcome!

Roger in Taizé, France. The purpose of the prayer is to connect with God and foster reconciliation and peace among all people. Christians of all traditions share in this ecumenical prayer. The simple service consists of the song (using the simple chants of the Taize community), scripture, a service of light, an extended period of silence for meditation concluding with prayers for the world. International Speaker: Wednesday, February 6 at 5:30 p.m., Mahesh Upadhyaya, International Partners in Mission Regional Director, South Asia, will share stories of Women in Development with particular emphasis on India and Nepal.

101 REASONS TO BE EPISCOPALIAN

Jesus said “Feed my sheep,” but he didn’t specify that they be fed a narrow and rigid diet. Our Episcopal/Anglican approach to the sacrament of Penance is a good example: “All may, some should, none must.”

101 REASONS TO BE EPISCOPALIAN

I AM SO APPRECIATIVE OF THE WAY THE Episcopal Church, with its Benedictine roots, keeps me grounded in real life, real relationships, real encounters. Ours is a very incarnational church—insisting on the importance of the Spirit’s embodiment in the ordinary events of each day, and reminding us over and over that God can be found in the most difficult and improbable places.
