It's Friday but Sunday's a Coming!

Dear Parish Family,

This Sunday is Christ the King Sunday, and there's a whole lot going on! There is forum between the services at 9am that will consist of two parts: a brief overview of our Advent study, Journeying the Way of Love, which begins on December 2nd, and then an open conversation about our island church partnership.

I'll be handing out a few Way of Love materials that will be helpful to have in advance, including an Advent Calendar with daily reflections and practices. And then you'll have a chance to join in the conversation about where our parish is at and where we're headed.

We will also be ingathering and blessing our pledges for 2019, a festive coffee hour to follow the 10am service. This is a time to celebrate our successes, as well as to pray that the works of our hands and fruits of our spirits may continue to build upon God's extraordinary generosity, bounty, and love. If you can't be with us this Sunday, please know that it's not too late to pledge and commit to supporting St. Andrew & St. John. Your gifts of treasure, time, and talent are always welcome.

I hope everyone had a safe and warm Thanksgiving Day, and see you this Sunday for our Great Thanksgiving of worship and praise!

Faithfully,
Mother Kathleen+

Westside Food Pantry:

The Bar Harbor Congregational Church is again undertaking a Thanksgiving Food Basket Project.  The Westside Food Pantry is the coordinator for basket requests from the west side of MDI.  The Pantry will once again provide the meat for the approximately 125 baskets to be distributed on "this side."

This project always requires some extra effort on our part and a chance for others to volunteer in being part of this opportunity to put our caring into practice.  So, I want to announce two ways to help make this happen.

First, Thanksgiving Basket Pickup in Bar Harbor: Monday, November 19 at 12:30 PM.  We need larger vehicles (SUV's, vans, and trucks), as well as "box carriers" containing the food items for the individual households.  If you have such a vehicle, and/or can help load the boxes in Bar Harbor and unload them in SWH (at the fire station), please let me know.  Even if you don't have a vehicle, but will help load/unload, also let me know.  Simply, "reply" with your type of vehicle or offer to load to Dean Henry, westsidefoodpantry@gmail.com

Second, Thanksgiving Basket Distribution at SWH Fire Station, Tuesday, November 20, 9:30 AM to 12 Noon.  We will distribute the baskets to those who have registered on Tuesday.  This is a cheerful event of good holiday spirit with our neighbors.  If you can help all or part of the time, simply "reply" to the above address and let me know of your availability.

I hope that you will make this project a part of your celebration of "thanks giving" and share with our neighbors a spirit of caring and gratitude.

The next distribution will be Sunday, November 18th, 12 Noon to 1 PM, at the Harbor House.

The Westside Food Pantry will receive $1 for each Fight Hunger bag purchased at Hannaford's in Bar Harbor during November; and at Schnucks at 4500 West Lloyd Expressway in Evansville, IN during December.

Magic Show:  Alan Drew, local Magician, will present a magic show at St. John's on Saturday, December 8 at 2:00 p.m. to benefit the Westside Food Pantry Backpack Program. Young and Old are invited to enjoy the Magic!
