From the Diocese of Maine{Diocese of Maine}

As a Parish of the Diocese of Maine, we are part of a church family that extends from Kittery to Fort Kent, and connects us to the rest of the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion.  We share ministry with our Bishop and with every worshipping community.
If you are not subscribed to the Diocesan twice monthly email newsletter, the DioLog, please click [here] to subscribe.  If you are subscribed, don't forget to open it and read it every time!  There is a lot going on in every corner of the Diocese, and you wouldn't want to miss anything.

Spring Training, Saturday, April 27, 9:30-3:30 at South Parish Congregational Church, Augusta. For the fourth year, the diocese will offer a free day of 22 new workshops for clergy and lay people to choose from. This year, our theme is The Way of Love. We will begin our day with a coffee hour, followed by three sessions of workshops with breaks for a lunch, worship and an address from Bishop Steve. This is a great opportunity to see old friends and make new connections with folks from all around the diocese. Registration is required by Easter. (visit episcopalmaine.ord/spring-training)

Lenten Worship and Supper: An opportunity to gather with brothers and sisters from all our island churches for a quiet evening worship followed by a simple soup and bread supper at 4:30 p.m.  The final gathering will be on Wednesday, April 3 at St. John the Divine in Southwest Harbor.

Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made. If you'd like to know more about this or our Pastoral Care Team, please contact our office administrators or Mother Kathleen.

The Way of the Cross, Wednesday, April 17 at 12 noon at St. Saviour's in Bar Harbor.  On Wednesday in Holy Week, in lieu of our usual midweek Eucharist, we will be praying the Way of the Cross using the Stations that folks colored last year.  If you are not familiar with this devotional service, it is a way of entering into the last hours of Jesus' life by following his steps through Jerusalem. This practice is appropriate at any time during Lent or Holy Week, and booklets containing the service are on the table at the back of the church and the shelf near the cloister door if you'd like to pray on your own at any time Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12 Noon.

Westside Food Pantry
Sips is having fundraiser for the Westside Food Pantry this month. For every purchase of $12 or more they will donate $1. Eat in only.....so consider Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner there!

Dear friends and neighbors,
I marvel at how St. Patrick's Day has a hold on all of us.  Sunday's distribution day was full of green and blarney.  I was complimented on my green sweater--which I put on Sunday morning quite unconsciously.  Happy to have a conversation starter, or to be able to contribute to comparisons with one of our neighbors modeling of their "green."  As always, the Irish and the celebration of their beloved Patrick made for a spirited Pantry day.  My favorite was an 80 year old man with a very pronounced Irish name who wore his green coat and shorts because "...the sun was shining on Patrick."  Best of all, was a young man and his two year old son who spent the better part of 15 minutes admiring their aerobic father-son exercises in front of the full length wall of mirrors at Harbor House.  What a joy-filled hour!

March finished "like a lamb" Sunday.  It was a very light day, but we finished the month number-wise in line with the past two years.  Here are the numbers: $16,310 worth of vouchers.  We served 379 neighbors: 280 adults and 99 children.  That's service to 211 households, 6 of which were new registrations.

Next month, April, marks the last month of our distribution season.
I remind everyone that our Distribution Sundays will be April 7 (12:00-2:00) and April 28 (12:00-1:00).
All my best,
Dean
