Westside Food Pantry:

On the first Sunday of the last month of the distribution season there were many expressions of appreciation and gratitude from our neighbors receiving vouchers.  "The Pantry's help has been so important this winter.  Thank you."  I want us all to hear these words.  It verifies what we who spend time with our neighbors on these Sundays during the winter already know--our help is needed and appreciated.  When I contemplate the 1,373 vouchers that were each labeled by hand with a neighbor's name, I am aware of just how many contributions--1 voucher for every $10--it takes to sustain this work and to put caring into action each season.  I wish that all who have donated to this work could know and feel what we who work closely on distribution Sundays know and feel--it really does matter.

So, a look at the numbers.  $13,730 worth of vouchers to 238 adults and 85 children representing 169 households.  There were 2 new households registered comprised of 4 people.

The Pantry will be open on Sunday, April 22, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. This will be the final day for the season.
