Serendipity, a Clothing Resale Shop where 100% of the proceeds benefit the Bar Harbor Food Pantry. Saturday May 15th marks their one year anniversary.  Some fun events are planned to celebrate this milestone, as a way to say thank you! The shop will be open from 10-4 with lots of good stuff to share. There will be a table with coffee, tea and cold beverages, as well as some delicious treats made by volunteers and other friends. There will be balloons for all of the kiddos. With every purchase, customers will be given an opportunity to save on their next visit. And winner of the raffle will be announced at the end of the day! What’s the raffle?  Well, starting this week, tickets will be sold for $1 (or $5 for 6) for a very elegant and delicate pair of diamond and garnet earrings (valued at $125 by a local jeweler!)  This will be a fun way to help raise a little more money for the pantry and what a great gift for a loved one or for yourself!

Ministry Opportunity at Sonogee: St. Andrew & St. John is one of 13 MDI churches taking part in a program, capably organized by Jack Drake, providing a Sunday morning service at Sonogee. This ministry began 30 years ago as one of several programs of the Council of Churches of The Islands, Inc. At the onset, the services were conducted at MDI hospital, in their Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). When the SNF and two small local nursing homes were replaced by two brand new state-of-the-art nursing facilities, the services were moved to Summit House and Sonogee. The importance of these services is underscored by the fact that they have outlasted all the Council’s other outreach programs, one of the nursing homes and the Council itself.

Would you like to be part of this ministry? You are more than welcome! St. Andrew & St. John is responsible for a service every three months. We need people that would be willing to lead the service, take part in the service, or just be with the residents.

St. John’s next service at Sonogee is Sunday, May 16th. Let Michael Shook (244-4425) know if you'd like to participate.
