St. Saviour’s Parish is hosting a Community Valentine Pot Luck Dinner on Friday, February 12.  All donations will go to St. Saviour’s MDI Fire Fund, which benefits fire victims on Mt. Desert Island.  Bring your family, friends, neighbors and a dish to share.  Beverages will be provided.  The dinner will be at the church, 41 Mt. Desert Street Bar Harbor, from 5 to7 pm in the Parish Hall.  All are welcome!

Prisoner who Ran Walpole Prison to Speak on MDI. Robert Dellelo will speak about solitary confinement as torture on Friday, February 12, at 7 pm at the Hall in the Turrets at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor and on Saturday, February 13, at 4 pm at St. John’s Church in Southwest Harbor. Dellelo, 67, was elected by the prisoners to chair the committee of Prisoners’ Union that ran Walpole Prison in Massachusetts for 12 weeks when the guards went on strike in 1973. The March 30, 2009 New Yorker magazine featured Bobby’s story in the article, Hellhole, by Atul Gawande. When asked if he thought he is an expert on prisons Dellelo says, “In 1964 I entered Walpole Prison with a natural life sentence. I overturned my sentence and left prison with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.  Now, having over 50 years of field experience in the ‘causes and effects’ of confinement, having watched brats turned into killers and having seen sane citizens turned into violent, hard core, insane criminals, all in the name of corrections, I hold myself out to be an expert in rehabilitation and corrections.” For information contact Gray Cox, 207-288-5015 ext. 326, gray@coa.edu and George Swanson, 207-244-0579,  george@katrinasdream.org

Dreams: A Window to the Soul.  A dream group will meet on February 26 and 27 at the Alcyon Retreat Center in Seal Cove.  Come learn about your own dreams as a pathway to the inner life.  The discussion will be facilitated by William Bigelow, a 4th year candidate at the Boston C. G. Jung Institute.   Space is limited so please register early.   Call 244-3445 or 244-1060 to register.

Office Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (8:30-2:30).
