5:30 PM

Our Thursday Evening Worship will look a bit different this week.
Rather than Evening Prayer, we will meet on Zoom to reflect upon the "Homework" Prayer Exercise that John+ provided at the end of Sunday's MDI worship service.
We will conclude with the Daily Devotion for Early Evening from the BCP.
The Service Order is printed below and includes the Homework from Sunday for you to practice before Thursday if you have not already done so. See you Thursday?

§  "Homework" Prayer exercise:
·         Reread Sunday's lesson from Acts 1:6-14
When the apostles had come together, they asked Jesus, "Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?" He replied, "It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven."
Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day's journey away. When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying, Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers.

·         Go outside if possible and spend some time (+/- 5 minutes) looking upward into the sky.

·         Pay attention to any
o   thoughts,
o   feelings
o   body sensations that arise.

·         At the conclusion of this activity, bring your experience to God in prayer.
o   What do you have to say to God?
o   What is God saying to you?
o   Thank God fort whatever experience you had.

§  Order for Evening  (from BCP p. 139)

In the Early Evening
This devotion may be used before or after the evening meal.

The Order of Worship for the Evening,
page 109, may be used instead.
O gracious light,
pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven,
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!

Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of Life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
A Reading
It is not ourselves that we proclaim; we proclaim Christ
Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants, for Jesus' sake.
For the same God who said, "Out of darkness let light
shine," has caused his light to shine within us, to give the
light of revelation--the revelation of the glory of God in the
face of Jesus Christ.     2 Corinthians 4:5-6
Prayers may be offered for ourselves and others.
The Lord's Prayer
The Collect
Lord Jesus, stay with us, for evening is at hand and the day is
past; be our companion in the way, kindle our hearts, and
awaken hope, that we may know you as you are revealed in
Scripture and the breaking of bread. Grant this for the sake
of your love. Amen.

§  Blessing.
