At St. John's

Meditation on Tuesdays at 4:00 at St. John's. Please join us for 30 minutes of shared silence and "prayer of the heart," an ancient meditative practice of the Christian tradition. All are welcome! We meditate sitting on chairs, though if you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring a mat or cushion.

At St. Saviour's:
Kevin Birch will perform a concert of 17th- and 18th-century music for keyboard, on Friday 18 October at 5:30 pm at St. Saviour's, 41 Mt. Desert Street, Bar Harbor.  Kevin, who is the music-director and organist at St. John's RC in Bangor, and is well-known to us from our August Organ Recital Series, will be playing this concert on a clavichord. Please make a point to enjoy this rare musical opportunity.

Westside Food Pantry
Last chance to get tickets for the handmade quilt to benefit the Pemetic and Tremont School Backpack Program. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.  The drawing will be held October 14th. You can purchase them in the church office or at the Harbor House.

From the Diocese of Maine{Diocese of Maine}

As a Parish of the Diocese of Maine, we are part of a church family that extends from Kittery to Fort Kent, and connects us to the rest of the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion.  We share ministry with our Bishop and with every worshipping community.
If you are not subscribed to the Diocesan twice monthly email newsletter, the DioLog, please click [here] to subscribe.  If you are subscribed, don't forget to open it and read it every time!  There is a lot going on in every corner of the Diocese, and you wouldn't want to miss anything.

The Formal Seating of Bishop Thomas James Brown will be held on Saturday, October 26th, following business at the 200th Convention of the Diocese and Bicentennial Celebration Kick-off, the newly consecrated bishop will be formally welcomed at the Cathedral of Saint Luke in Portland and seated in the cathedra, or bishop's chair, that is symbolic of the bishop's office. More information about how you can attend this service will be shared here at episcopalmaine.org/convention/maine2019

MDI+ Episcopal Churches:

St. John's, Church of Our Father and St. Saviour's has formed an Outreach and Mission Committee which meets on the third Thursday of each month at Church of Our Father in Hulls Cove. The next meeting is October 17th at 5 pm.  The current focus of the group is hunger among the large number of homeless in Ellsworth.  Come to the next meeting to throw out ideas and possible solutions and see what a committed group of caring people can do! You do not have to be a member of or attend any church to be part of this group. Contact Geoff Schuller at 288-2294 if you have any questions.

Confidential Prayer Chain: Unlike our published prayer lists, prayer requests that come into the Prayer Chain remain private to the prayer chain itself, which will pray devotedly for one week unless an updated request is made. If you'd like to know more about this or our Pastoral Care Team, please contact our office administrators.
