Preparing for Palm Sunday - Making Palm Crosses.  You are invited to join a group that will gather on Saturday morning April 12th at 9 am in St. Saviour’s Parish Hall to prepare for Palm Sunday. We can use many hands, no experience necessary, in making palm crosses for our parish families and friends. We also support Jack Drake's ministry at Sonogee by supplying enough for the residents there.  We welcome you and any amount of time you can give.  For more information, please contact Sue Blaisdell (288-4092).

Community Events

Best Spaghetti Dinner Ever, April 12th, 5-7 at the Southwest Harbor Congregational Church. Proceeds will go to the Westside Food Pantry.

The Evensong singers, a ministry of Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County, are offering a friend raising concert on Friday, April 25th at the Somesville Union Meeting House at 7pm. This is a rare opportunity to hear, in public, what we do. Our work is to bring comfort to Hospice patients and their families. Our musical offerings are varied, ranging from joyful to solemn, as we attempt to suit the particular needs of those for whom we sing. Please come!

Stabat Mater: You are cordially invited to a performance of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater on Sunday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Saviour’s; Johanna-Karen Johannson, soprano; Rebecca Hope Woods, mezzo-soprano; Julia Morris-Myers, piano. Suggested donation is $15. Profits will benefit the MDI Community Campfire Coalition, which provides heating fuel to locals in need. FMI: www.seacoastmission.org

The 9th Annual Spring Fest Concert and Auction to support the Emmaus Shelter will take place on Sunday, April 27, at the Ellsworth Elementary/Middle School (behind the Mill Mall) from 12:30-3:30 p.m.  The fundraiser will include a delicious Caribbean catered buffet, a live and silent Auction, and wonderful Celtic entertainment by the Craggy Islanders.  You may support the shelter by making a monetary donation, making a pledge in memory or honor of someone, by donating items for the auction, selling tickets, or volunteering at the event.  For more information, visit their website at www.emmaushomelessshelter.org, or  call Sister Lucille MacDonald at the shelter at 667-3962.

The Alcyon Center in Seal Cove is a spiritual life center offering weekly and monthly community spiritual practice, special workshops, and retreat opportunities.  Upcoming workshops include Introducing Silence and the Heart, April 4-6 and the first in a new Earth|Arts series:  Fermenting Vegetables with Sheila Eddison, April 12. Weekly offerings include Centering Prayer Mondays 1:00 p.m. and Bible Study Wednesdays 3:30 p.m.  A Quiet Day on the first Friday of the month, April 4, provides space for silence and reflection.
