MDI Episcopal Church Events

ST. SAVIOUR’S and ST. JOHN’S:

Thursdays in January— 9:30 a.m. at St. Saviour’s and following the 12:30 Eucharist at St. John’s, The Rev. Debbie Little Wyman invites you to join her for a group discussion. For the first two Thursdays in January the group will read TS Elliot’s Journey of the Magi and discuss their own experiences of journey and why we journey and what do we seek and then what do we find.

Congregational Pastoral Care —  CPC teams are now being formed. Through prayer, study of the book "Christian Caregiving-- A Way of Life" , and practice of listening and caring skills, several members of St. Saviour's and St. John's are preparing themselves to be witnesses to the love of God to those among us who may be in need. If you would like to be part of this ministry please contact Deacon Jenny (812-2365). The next meeting will be on January 11 at 5:30 p.m. at St. John's. Please note that this is a change from the original published schedule.

MDI-Haiti Connection —  St. Saviour's  Outreach Committee is moving forward with something that has been a goal for many Episcopalians and other Christians on Mount Desert Island-- a connection of love, caring, hope, and help between our island community and the people of Haiti. All who are interested in helping to establish and strengthen this connection are invited to a meeting at the Somesville Fire House on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. Presentations will be made by people who have had experience in Haiti and we will make plans for a course of education for ourselves and our communities concerning the ongoing needs, and the many vibrant gifts, of our neighbors in Haiti. One goal will be to develop a mission trip to Haiti from MDI for 2013. See you there!

ST. MARY’S AND ST. JUDE’S:

Community Bible Study at the Neighborhood House Living Room in Northeast Harbor on Thursday mornings at 11:00. The Rev. Linda Hatch (Union Church) and The Rev. Patricia Robertson (St. Mary & Jude) will present “First Person: a study from the perspective of the characters in the Bible.”

Prayer for the Community of St. Andrew & St. John

Gracious God, we offer thanks for our parish, for your inspiration, and for the generous open hearts making accessibility for all a reality at St. John's. Guide us all, especially our Capital Campaign and Design & Construction Committees and Vestry, as we continue to seek funding for the planned expansion of the facilities. We thank you for the various trades and skills of those who work on the addition. Protect and guide them as they labor, that they may take pride in their accomplishments. Inspire us to share faithfully the love that you have revealed to us through the ministry and sacrifice of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
