Sunday, June 14: Holy Eucharist—8:00 a.m. at St. Andrew by the Lake and 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Divine.

Food Pantry Vegetable Plot: As we all know, it takes work to make a garden grow and now that our Food Pantry garden is underway at St. John’s, I am asking for volunteers to help with the care of the plot that will provide fresh vegetables for those in need this summer. Please call Cass Wright (244-5459) if you are willing to take part in this important ministry.

 

Seafood Ketch Restaurant in Bass Harbor is hosting a “Wine Day” each Wednesday in June from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Price is $10/person, which includes wine and appetizers. This Wednesday, June 10th, the restaurant will donate $5/person to the Westside Food Pantry.

Stay for dinner and the other $5 will be credited towards your dinner entrée.

 

Friday, June 12 at noon - Bert Coble Singers Concert  - Free and open to the public!  

Tennessee chamber choir, The Bert Coble Singers, will present a free noontime concert at historic St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Friday, June 12 as part of the Singers’ 8th concert tour to North America.  All are welcome and no reservations are needed. The group is directed by Dr. Bert Coble, Professor Emeritus of Cumberland University in Tennessee. For this tour, Dr. Coble has assembled a small chamber choir who will perform a 40-minute acapella concert of sacred music including works from Palestrina, Handel, Mozart, and Schubert.

 

Lean and Green Series: Wednesday, June 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the undercroft. Reduce your energy dependence, saving both money and the air we all breathe. This month – Solar Hot Water systems. Step outside in the warm sun and find ways to allow it to help heat your home or domestic hot water.

 

Pre-General Convention Gatherings around the Diocese: As July approaches and Mainers gear up for the 76th General Convention of The Episcopal Church in Anaheim, California, the Maine deputation will hold a number of regional conversations with Maine Episcopalians.  Topics covered will include issues, legislation and other topics to be taken up at General Convention and the implications for the Episcopal Church in Maine and with wider Anglican Communion.  All are welcome.

Commando turned healer to speak: Noted Episcopal priest and healer, and former member of the Royal Marine Commandos, the Rev. Nigel Mumford, will teach on Thursday, June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Matthew's, Lisbon, and at a healing conference, "The Resurrection of the Forgotten Touch," at Acadia Christian School in Trenton on June 12 and 13. The June 11 Lisbon event is free and open to the public.  The following weekend healing conference in Trenton is $15 and reservations can be made by contacting Church of Our Father, 288-4849 or shalomcoof@myfairpoint.net .

A free community meal, “Everybody Eats”, will be offered in Ellsworth, every Monday. The meal will be served from 3:00 to 7:00 at St. Dunstan’s Church, 134 State Street (across from the Moore School). The menu will consist of two varieties of soup (including one vegetarian), bread, cheese, fruit, and more. Soups can be eaten in or taken home. The meal is sponsored by a committee of volunteers, churches, and community agencies. There is no charge, no fee, and all are welcome.  For more information, contact 374-3608 or 664-6016.

 

Choral Evensong to celebrate St. John's (Bangor) 175th Anniversary Saturday, June 20th. High Tea at 3:30 p.m. and Choral Evensong at 5 p.m., with Bishop Steve preaching.
