EVENTS & NEWS

 

Sunday Services: During the summer, Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m. at St. Andrew by-the-Lake in Seal Cove and 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Divine in Southwest Harbor.

We welcome Bob Winglass as our organist this Sunday and on July 29, while Bill Voorhies enjoys some well-deserved time off.

Lectionary readings for June 15th: Psalm 116:1-2, 12-17; Genesis 19”1-15; Romans 5:1-8; Matthew 9:35-10:23.

Weekday Morning Eucharist: Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s in Southwest Harbor.

Farmer’s Market: begins Friday, June 13th from 9:00-1:00 in St. John’s parking lot.

Discussion/Worship Group on the early Christian Agape/ Eucharist:  Mondays -- June 16, 23, and 30 -- 7 to 9 pm at the Somesville Church Parish House.  (June 23 and 30 may start earlier if we include food.)  Bring any resources you may have.  For information and/or written sources for early Christian worship contact George Swanson at george@katrinasdream.org & 244-0579.

Acadia Regional Coalition (ARC): Tuesday, June 17th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Saviour’s Parish. We would like to have one or more people from St. John attend.  Please see or talk to Ted Bromage or Sarah Flynn.

Bible School Rally: Sunday, June 22nd at noon. All Bible School students, parents, grandparents, teachers, and volunteers - past and future - are invited to gather at St. John’s to celebrate summertime friendships and share information about the 2008 Vacation Bible School, planned for August 11-15. At the conclusion of the rally the group will be transported to “Susannah’s Beach” for an afternoon of beach combing, wading, outdoor play, and fellowship.

Capital Campaign Committee Meeting:  Wednesday, June 25, 5-6:30 p.m.

Vestry Meeting:  Thursday, June 26, 6-7:30 p.m.

The Rev. Cynthia Bourgeault, Ph.D. will be offering a day of teaching, including a talk entitled “The Divine Exchange,” at St. Andrew by-the-Lake on Friday, June 27th, from 10:00 to 3:00. Cynthia, who is an Episcopal priest, is the author of several books and one of the leading spiritual teachers in the United States. The cost for the event is $25. Please bring your lunch or you may buy lunch for $15, provided by The Alcyon Center. Please make out checks to the Northeast Guild for Spiritual Formation.

The Rehoboth Welsh Choir at St. Mary’s-by-the-Sea: Join us on Friday, June 27th (7:00 p.m.) for a concert of stirring and inspiring music by the Rehoboth Welsh Choir! This concert is part of the choir’s summer tour of the Northeast and Nova Scotia
