A Handful of Inspiration

"TO BE HOPEFUL IN BAD TIMES is not just foolishly

romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is

a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion,

sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to

emphasize in this complex history will determine our

lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity

to do something. If we remember those times and

places-and there are so many-where people have

behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act,

and at least the possibility of sending this spinning

top of a world in a different direction."

-quote from Howard Zinn, in Cricket's sermon for Lent 4

The Rev. Katrina Swanson

For the cost of a donation of any size, you can currently stream on PBS the film

"The Philadelphia Eleven"-

a documentary lifting up the first- illegal-

This powerful look back at the controversy

is a reminder and inspiration to us all about the importance of standing up for one another

for justice and equality.

MDI resident Katrina Swanson was

ONE OF THE ELEVEN!

This year we will commemorate the 20th anniversary of her passing, while we also celebrate

the 51st year of her ordination.
